#59 - Donate to a crowdfunding campaign. (1/101)

Completed number one today, I donated to a crowdfunding campaign! I had been thinking to myself, what number on the list would I complete first? I had started researching trapeze classes and classics to read but then came across a Facebook post from a younger girl in my sorority. She just graduated from UVa and is hoping to go to Ghana this summer to provide solar power to rural Ghana (so cool!).

Last September I had the honor of traveling to Rwanda with JDC Entwine to visit the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village. While there, I toured an incredible solar field first hand and heard about the difference it has made in this community (pictured left). So when I saw Molly's post, I knew I wanted to support her in her efforts! Here is Molly's story and her crowdfunding page if I've inspired you to make a donation as well.

Molly's story:
Hi everyone! My name is Molly, and I am about to graduate from the University of Virginia, and am thrilled to have the opportunity to travel to Tamale, Ghana as a Field Representative with Saha Global this summer.

Saha Global  partners with rural communities to help build businesses that create access to clean water and solar electricity. I will spend three weeks helping to build a solar-powered charging center and training community-appointed women to operate the business.

Why these efforts are needed:
Currently, 9.4 million Ghanaians are living without access to electricity. Most people travel up to 2 houors to charge their electronics, and rely on kerosene lamps for a light. The funds raised will allow a team of four field representative and I to provide solar panels, a charge controller, battery, and inverter to the village. We will also provide lamps that use rechargeable batteries to each household.

Saha Global provides sustainable, community-based solutions. There are no complex machines or parts. Everything is outsourced from their village or local market, and everything is under the control of the women business owners. 100% of the businesses that Saha Global has helped implement are still in operation.
Molly - I hope you make it to your goal!
1/101 - on to the next.
